This is a good....today me, chimmey, and melson took the wheelchair outside to see how it feels on the grass.....it was hard to control and it kept on sliding off the grass......we also met up with wentworth today (3-30-07) for 3rd period.......and we discussed he problems with the engines.....and we said it would be better off with a electrical engine.....less noise and can be used indoor and outdoor......im also suggesting a rechargeable battery..?????

Rechargable batteries are great for some things... but they don't hold charge very long, and more importantly, you don't always have an indicator of when it will run out of charge.

Imagine you are handicapped and enjoying your 'hike' and you run out of battery!!!

THE MISSION: OFF-ROAD WHEELCHAIR

design an off-road wheelchair so that an individual confined to a wheelchair could explore scenery beyond a paved surface. the design team would consider what would be necesary for such a wheelchair and how such a unit could be assembled. the wheelchair would allow an energetic individual to move over a grassy surface with some bumps and a slight incline. A one-quater size prototype could be built and tested with the help of our mentors from wentworth institute of technology, mike fisher and nick peterson.
